Laura S Sanden

Laura S. Sanden, age 72, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Waunakee Valley Senior Living. She was born on January 5, 1954, in Madison, the daughter of Leo and Marian (Schiavo) Skille.

Laura graduated from James Madison Memorial High School in 1972. She married Kenneth Sanden on May 17, 1975. Laura worked in insurance throughout her career.  Beginning at WPS, then Rural Insurance, General Casualty and lastly with American Family Insurance as a Senior Programmer within their IT Department.

Laura had a feisty and independent spirit, yet she cared deeply for the special friends she considered family. She cherished traveling to different countries with her mother and enjoyed bringing home treasured souvenirs from their adventures. Laura also had a passion for collecting jewelry and was especially drawn to anything made of copper or featuring its distinctive color. A devoted animal lover, she found great companionship and comfort in her beloved cats.

Laura is survived by her husband, Kenneth; brother, Lee (Carrie) Skille; sister-in-law, Lori Skille, nieces and nephews and special friend, Karen Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Michael Skille.
