MADISON - Marian Hazel Nelson, age 97, of Madison, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026. She was born on June 24, 1929, in Prairie Du Chein, the daughter of Clarence and Mabel (Gaulke) Jambura.

 

Marian graduated from East High School in 1947. She worked as a nurse's aide at Central Colony for 15 years.

 

She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, fishing, baking, and cooking.

 

Marian is survived by her son, David Nelson; daughters, Patricia (Erik) Popp, Lynn Hagen and Mary Nelson; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arnold, a sister, Rita Gerks, and a brother, Robert Jambura.

Marian and Arnie were the best neighbors we could have asked for. I made cookies for them (Arnie liked my maple curls the best) and they were also lovely with our daughter. Marian was so loving and supportive, like a grandma. For our little girl who had no living grandparents, that was pretty special. I had no idea she worked at Central Colony at the same time as my mom did. Such a sweet soul, she is with her beloved Arnie.
