Obituary

MADISON - Marilyn S. Rowin, age 99, of Edgerton, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Madison Pointe Senior Care. She was born on August 24, 1927, in Madison, the daughter of Alfred Denton and Dorothy (Neu) Denton.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Raymond Rowin on January 26, 1946.

Marilyn worked as a nurse’s aide at Morningside Sanitarium in Monona for many years until its closing in the early 1970s.

Marilyn enjoyed photography, gardening, sketching, and genealogy. She especially enjoyed capturing candid photographs of her family, creating many fond memories and moments of laughter. She was a longtime member of Monona United Methodist Church and found great joy in spending time camping and enjoying the outdoors. One of Marilyn’s greatest joys was caring for her grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving caregiver to them and cherished every moment they shared together.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Judith (Thomas) Clayton, Leonard Rowin, Herbert (Cathleen) Rowin, Carol (Steve) Vernig and Catherine Rowin; daughter-in-law, Betty Rowin; brother, John (Nancy) Barden; brother-in-law, Ron (Deirdre) Butz; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Rowin; sons, LeRoy Rowin and Steven Rowin; daughters-in-law, Wanda Strand and Marcia Rowin; parents, Herbert H. Fell and Dorothy C. Martin; and four siblings.

A memorial service will be held at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Road, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.  Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens with luncheon to follow at the church. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
