Obituary

MADISON - William D. Sheldon, age 79, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on May 14, 1947, in Madison, the son of Wynne and Olga (Viken) Sheldon.

 

Bill graduated from Monona Grove High School. Following high school, he began his career as a pressman at Webcrafters Inc., where he worked for 46 years before retiring.

 

Bill enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and cheering on the Packers and Badgers. He was a self-proclaimed member of the Elks Club and Maple Bluff Country Club. Bill lived his life “his way” and had a special knack for forming friendships with people from all walks of life and enjoyed bringing together friends from his many different circles. Most of all, he cherished his role as a grandpa and treasured the simple moments spent with his family.

 

Bill is survived by his sons, Steven (Heidi) Sheldon and James Sheldon (Mariya); grandchildren, Amanda, Caitlin and Joshua Sheldon, Corey Sheldon and Steven Sheldon; great-granddaughter, Harlee Lynn Sheldon Zarn; sister, Nancy Vick; close friend, Jane Ring; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Sheldon; grandson, Matthew Adams; parents, Wynne and Olga; sister, Susan (William) Ray; brother-in-law, Thomas "Frank" Vick; and nephew, Thomas "Tommy" Ray.

 

A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
