Rob was a one of a kind guy. You either knew him or you didn't. Rob was kind hearted but not fooled into false pretenses. Rob was not only a lieutenant of mine, he was a dear friend. As a lieutenant, he was fair and if you were a friend of his, it did not matter. If you messed up you messed up. Favouritism played no part. Even though he was a good friend, I expected no brakes. Jane and his siblings can be very proud of Rob. He served his profession well and was a dear and trusted friend. My condolences to Jane and family and pray that Rob is enjoying his time with GOD. Rest in peace my friend!!

Dear Jane, I have many warm memories of you and Rob and our joint UWPD-MPD Mounted Patrol experience. I remember Rob's dedication as he fought to bring the Mounted Unit back to MPD. I feel happy to have known him. My sincere sympathy, Deb Hettrick

I am so saddened by Rob's passing. He and I worked so closely together for a decade @ Edgewood H.S.in Madison. He had a knack for reading difficult situations as Dean of Disipline and his Police background helped him throughout his career. Rob was fun to work with and we solved many unique situations for Teenagers and their families. He was loyal to his school and family and we shared a love for Dogs together. My deepest sympathies to Jane ,Dominick ,his daughters and everyone who loved him. He could be tough on the outside ,but had a huge heart on the inside . He will be sorely missed!...............Nick Burrows Friend and Co-worker from Edgewood H.S.
