LODI - Mary “Katie” Villeneuve Wilson, age 89, of Lodi, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026. Mary Villeneuve Wilson, better known as Kay or Katie, was born on October 6, 1936, in Grand Forks, N.D., to Eugene and Julia Villeneuve.
At the age of six, Katie and her family moved to Montana, where they lived in Great Falls and Missoula. Her father passed away during her senior year of high school. Following her graduation, Katie and her mother moved to Elgin, Ill., to be near family.
It was in Elgin that Katie met her future husband, Robert. She began working as a stenographer for the Milwaukee Railroad in Chicago, Ill., and the couple married in 1956. Robert served in the Air Force and was stationed at O’Hare Field in Chicago. In 1959, he was transferred to Madison, Wis. The couple lived in Madison for two years before moving to the Lodi area in 1961. Following Robert’s passing in 1970, Katie began a long and fulfilling career at UW Hospital. She worked in the Cancer Registry for 20 years and then in the Trauma Registry for another 10 years before retiring.
Outside of work, Katie enjoyed many activities. She loved watching sports, playing bridge, making quilts, reading, traveling and playing golf. She enjoyed staying active and pursuing the things she loved.
She is survived by her son, Joe Wilson (Kim Wilson); her grandchildren, Jolee (Darren Johnson) and Nathan Wilson; and her nieces, Phyllis and Becky Smith. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Wilson; two sons, William “Bill” and Michael “Mike” Wilson; and two sisters, Phyllis Villeneuve and Elsie (Phil) Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MAXIMILIAN KOLBE PARISH, ST. PATRICK CHURCH, 521 Fair St., Lodi, at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, with Father Joseph Baker presiding. Burial will be held at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday.
