Obituary
MADISON - Edward Asamoah Adams, age 78, of Madison Wis., passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at his home. He was born on October 3, 1947, in Kumasi, Ghana, the son of Lawrence Yaw Asamoah and Afua Brepomaa Asamoah.
Edward earned his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Science Art from UW-Madison and later earned his Master of Fine Arts degree there as well. He worked as a teacher of graphic design at MATC for 23 years before retiring at age 60. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and loved listening to music, especially reggae and Afrobeats. He had a deep love for his home and country, Ghana, and enjoyed traveling back and forth between Ghana and the U.S. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, fishing, dancing and just having a good time. He loved bringing people together, throwing parties, and creating joyful memories. Above all, he loved his family, especially his children.
Edward is survived by his children, Derrick Adams, Nicole Adams and Justice Asamoah. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mary Abena Gbedema Asamoah, Ama Serwaa Elizabeth Asamoah, Edward Kudjo Asamoah, Lawrence Kwabena Asamoah and Grace Afua Manu Gyemfua Asamoah.
A funeral service will be held at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 203 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026. A graveside service will follow at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK in Monona. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, and at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
