Obituary
OREGON - Ruth Marcella (Buol) Jeschke, age 88, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at her home in Oregon. She was born on July 12, 1938, in Madison, the daughter of Charles and Marcella (Carteron) Buol.
Ruth attended Lowell Grade School in Madison through sixth grade and graduated from Madison East High School in 1956. On October 26, 1957, she was united in marriage to Helmut Jeschke in Madison.
Following high school, Ruth worked in the office at Oscar Mayer in Madison until 1959, when she became a stay-at-home mother following the birth of her son. Her daughter was born in 1962. In 1970, the family moved to their farm in Oregon, where they still reside.
Ruth found joy in many simple pleasures throughout her life. She enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing Rummikub, and spending time crafting, especially embroidery and latch hook. She loved cheering for all Wisconsin sports, Badgers, Packers, Brewers and basketball, gardening and flowers, camping with her family, and caring for the baby calves on the farm.
Ruth was also dedicated to her community and church. She volunteered at elections in the Town of Oregon for many years and was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she participated in the women’s circle during many of her early years.
Ruth also enjoyed bowling and, during the late 1980s and 1990s, was part of a bowling league at Badger Bowl with Helmut, her sister and brother-in-law. Their team took second place during the 1983–1984 season, a memory she was proud to share.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Helmut; daughter, Diane (Ben) England; sister, Mary Culp; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marcella Buol; son, Victor Jeschke; brother, Francis Buol; brother-in-law, Dale Culp; niece, Karen Culp; aunts, Elizabeth Kuehni and Marie Buol; along with other in-laws.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 12 noon on Friday, September 4, 2026. A graveside service will take place at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Oregon, with a luncheon to follow at the funeral home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
