MADISON - Liam Richard Erv Grahn (Tetzlaff), age 17, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at American Family Children's Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, with Pastor Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

If you are able to join us for Liam’s memorial do not feel the need to dress up. Liam was a sweatpants, flannel pants (didn't start wearing jeans or cargo pants until last year), hoodie, Ultimate Frisbee Sunny/Jersey, Anime, Pokémon, Bluey, Dinosaur (Jurassic Park), Godzilla, and yes, a Minnesota Vikings kind of kid. His favorite color was purple, and he had an addiction to fleece blankets.

So please come wearing something that may reflect how you know Liam or just your favorite comfort outfit. Bring your favorite comfort item if you choose to hold or have it with you. This isn’t easy. The loss of any student, child, friend or family member affects everyone differently. Liam would want us all to be comfortable and together as we celebrate him.

Please know that however you choose to grieve Liam is your choice. We do not want anyone to feel the need to be dressed up, as 9 out of 10 times Liam would have certainly chosen a quarter zip athletic top and sweatpants versus dress pants and a polo any day.

If you have any photos or memories you wish to share, please send them to Liam1memorial@gmail.com or tributes may be shared at www.gundersonfh.com. You will need to search Liam Grahn (Tetzlaff).

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Liam’s memory to the COMPASS Clinic Precision Therapy Center, Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee, or to support the K9 Health Dog Program at UW Children’s Hospital. Liam shared a very special bond with Cola, one of the program’s therapy dogs, and was even featured alongside her. Together, Liam and Cola often "discussed" his idea of creating stuffed dogs for children to hold when Cola was unable to be with them. Liam believed that if the idea could start with Cola, it could grow into something meaningful for all of the therapy dogs, bringing comfort to even more children.
