MADISON - Norman Joseph Selle, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at UW Hospital. He was born on January 10, 1962, in Neenah, Wisconsin, the son of Dennis and Rosemary Selle.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, Norman majored in Political Science and Journalism. He worked as a Supervisor at the University of Wisconsin - Madison Pyle Conference Center, retiring in 2022.
Norman greatly enjoyed many kinds of music, photography, gardening, discussing politics and cooking great food for his family. He had an abiding passion for nature, especially birds and native plants. He was an avid hiker, loving to explore wild places. At the time of his death, he was a volunteer Team Leader at the UW Arboretum and was a regular blood donor. Norman always had a welcoming smile and radiated kindness.
Norman is survived by his loving wife, Shelley; his stepchildren, Sarah Hartman (Joshua Moran) and Jeffrey Hartman (Lindsey); and his beloved granddaughters, Evelyn and Tilly Hartman, who called him Papa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family event will be held.
