Obituary
BROOKLYN / STOUGHTON - Gladys Marie Meister, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Skaalen Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on December 19, 1935, in Edgerton, the daughter of Christ and Helen (Sundbakken) Clemetson.
Gladys graduated from Stoughton High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Ervin James Meister Jr. on December 4, 1954, in Stoughton. She worked as a supply clerk for Skaalen for 28 years before becoming a resident.
Gladys was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, especially cardinals, collecting spoons and traveling. She especially enjoyed her many trips to Branson. Gladys was an amazing cook and loved making meals for her family and friends. She was an avid canner. Above all, Gladys cherished spending time with her family, visiting with others, and dancing with her late husband, Ervin.
Gladys is survived by her son, Marc (Stephenie) Meister; granddaughters, Dianna Zimmerman, Danielle (Jessie) Salinas and Alexi (Dan) O'Sullivan; grandson, Travis (Hanna) Meister; and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Grace, Rylie, Jon, Jaxon, Yessenia, Adalynn, Archer and Axl. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christ and Helen; husband, Ervin; and daughter, Sheri Meister.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026. Burial will take place at Graves Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gladys' name to Agrace HospiceCare.
