Obituary

COTTAGE GROVE / STOUGHTON - Lisa Marie Moriarity, 41, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, following complications from surgery and ongoing health issues. She was born September 2, 1984, in Madison, to Steve Killerlain and Shawn Moriarity.

Lisa graduated in 2003 and earned her CNA certificate from MATC. She held various positions in customer service and health care, though her true passion was caring for others. That compassion was evident when she put her own life on hold to care for her mother following her terminal cancer diagnosis in 2016. After her mother's passing, Lisa devoted herself to caring for her father until his passing in 2023.

Lisa was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, soon-to-be gigi, and friend. Above all else, she was a mom. Her children, Sierra and Cain Brummer, were her whole world. There was nothing Lisa was more proud of than her children, and being their mother was her greatest accomplishment and the role she cherished most.

Lisa was one of the kindest souls you could ever meet. She was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it, never hesitating to help someone she loved.

Lisa is survived by her children, Sierra and Cain Brummer; Sierra’s fiancé, Zachary LaFrombois, whom Lisa loved as her own; her children’s father, Lukas Brummer; her sister, Sarah (Victor) Laws; her niece and nephew, MadiLynn and Conner Killerlain; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Shawn; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Joann; maternal grandmother, Jeanne; as well as other loved ones who undoubtedly welcomed her home with open arms.

Lisa’s passing was sudden and unexpected, leaving behind a tremendous amount of love, heartbreak, and memories. Though her time with her family was far too short, the love she gave them will continue through her children, her future granddaughters, and everyone whose life she touched.

Rest peacefully, Lisa. You were the best mom, the kindest soul, and you were so deeply loved. Your kids were your whole world, and there is no doubt that you were theirs.

A celebration of life will take place at VFW POST 7591, 301 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Lisa was the best aunt i could’ve possibly ever had, she was so giving more than you could ever imagine from helping strangers to going to extreme lengths to make sure her kids, niece and nephew, sister, parents or family in general went with what they needed.. i remember specifically asking her for paper mate pens because all the girls in class had them and I just wanted to fit in even though she knew i didn’t actually need them she went and got the biggest pack with the most colors, she wanted me to have the best in class and that stood for everything, she made sure you knew your worth and that it wasn’t up for discussion one thing in particular she said i’ll never forget is “ It is not selfish to make yourself a priority. You can't continue being the supporter and giver you are if you don't also support and give to yourself.” Lisa, though your time on earth was cut to short your sweet soul, bright energy, and amazing advice will carry throughout the rest of my lifetime and i’ll make sure i pass it down to your soon to be lovely granddaughters.. i promise they will know their gigi Lisa and we will all forever cherish you in our hearts until we are able to reunite again. i love you so so much Lisa, this isn’t a goodbye just see you later❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

How am I supposed to say goodbye to someone who has known me for more than 20 years? Someone who saw me at my absolute worst and still loved me. Someone who watched me lose myself in addiction and then helped me find my way back. Someone who was there for me while I was losing my mom. You even taught me how to be a mother. You were there through so many of those moments, helping me, guiding me, and loving me through it all. You knew me. Really knew me. The good, the bad, the ugly, the broken, the healing me. I never had to pretend with you. I never had to explain myself. And now you’re gone, and I feel like I’ve lost someone who held so many pieces of my life. I’m going to miss you in ways I can’t even begin to explain. I’m going to miss your voice, your presence, your understanding, and the comfort of knowing that you were always there. I love you so much. Thank you for loving me through every version of myself. I don’t think anyone will ever know me the way you did. Forever my best friend. Forever in my heart. 🤍

We met Lisa when my daughter and her were 4 years old. The girls became fast friends. They went to the same in home babysitter until they started school. When Jenna and I moved to Stoughton, Lisa and her family promptly followed us and they remained friends all through school. Lisa you will be missed I'm so sorry we are unable to make the celebration of life. Rest in peace Lisa. Love, Jenna and Patti

There are no words to describe the pain of losing you so suddenly and unexpectedly. For a few years you lived without me, but I’ve never had to live with you and I’m terrified. I always knew that no matter what happened in life, you’d be there. I will forever cherish our relationship; from the good times to the bad, it made us the sisters we are and always will be. I love you forever big little.
