Obituary
WATERLOO - Jaime C. Marshall, age 48, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 10:55 pm at UW Hospital and Clinics surrounded by family.
Jaime was born on November 21, 1977, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late James Ness and Christine (Larrabee) Ness and baptized as a Lutheran. A 1997 graduate of Lodi High School, she waitressed on and off to help support her family and pay for college.
Jaime was born with a rare condition called Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD) that affects every 1 in 185,000 babies worldwide. MSUD is a lifelong and potentially life-threatening disorder; with this condition your body has trouble breaking down amino acids which can build up and become toxic.
She enjoyed simple pleasures that brought comfort to her and her family: tending her garden, solving crossword puzzles, and hosting family game nights that filled the house with laughter. Jaime treasured time with her husband, children, and her cats and took joy in the small enduring rituals of family life.
Jaime is survived by her husband, Michael; two daughters, Hailey Ness and Kaitlyn Hamilton; two stepchildren, Logan Marshall and Gage Marshall; her sister, Vikki Ness; niece, Mikalya Ness; nephew, Trenton (Kaycia) Ness; and many other relatives and friends who will remember her kindness and steady presence. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St., Lodi, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026 with Chaplain Dan Pulsfus presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will be held at Dekorra Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family who will donate 50% of the donations to a charity supporting MSUD. The family welcomes those who wish to honor Jaime by sharing memories and continuing the spirit of fellowship she loved.
