Obituary
MADISON - On Sunday, August 16, 2026, Delores “De De” Hermstad, went to be with her Lord whom she loved and served. She was born in Madison on March 30, 1933, the daughter of Alfred and Valborg (Waldhausen) Friis.
On September 17, 1977, she married John Irvin Hermstad and moved to Frederic, Wis., and went from being a city girl to a farm wife which she really enjoyed! She was a member of Riverside Church (formerly Bethany Evangelical Free Church) and graduated from East High School in 1951.
Survivors include her sister, Evelyn; sister-in-law, Cecelia Renstrom; nephews, Dean (Marilyn)
Renstrom, Gerald (Mary) Renstrom and Mark (Emily) Renstrom; and many wonderful and caring cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irvin, on August 3, 2013; and brother-in-law, Roland Renstrom.
Special thanks to all the staff of Skilled Nursing/ Memory Care at Oak Park Place East and Agrace HospiceCare, especially Aminata Dibbasey, for their loving care of De De.
A memorial service will be held at RIVERSIDE CHURCH, 301 Riverside Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, with Pastors Kellen Lewis and David Carlson presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
An additional memorial service and burial will be held at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 997 280th Ave., Frederic, Wis., at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Delores Hermstad's name to Agrace HospiceCare or Riverside Church-Missions.
