Emerson M Hovind

Emerson Mae Hovind passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, surrounded by the immense love of her parents, after 27 precious days of life.

Born on July 15, 2026, Emerson brought an immeasurable amount of love and meaning into the world. Though her time with us was far too short, she touched the lives of everyone who met her and will forever be a cherished part of our family.

Emerson is survived by her loving parents, Andrew and Jenna Hovind; her grandparents, Steve and Patty Hovind and Dave and Denice Waldhuetter; her beloved dog, Whitley; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will carry her memory with them always.

Andrew and Jenna would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the incredibly gifted NICU nurses, physicians, and staff at UnityPoint-Meriter, whose compassion and care surrounded Emerson from the very beginning. They are also profoundly grateful to their family for their constant support, and to their friends for the extraordinary outpouring of love and generosity shown to their family during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emerson’s name to the Hope for HIE foundation, so that her legacy can live on by helping other babies and families affected by hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy.

Andrew and Jenna will see Emerson each day in the butterflies that surround them and in the beauty of every nightly sunset, finding reminders of their sweet girl wherever they go.
