Obituary

LODI - Pamela S. Stieren, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Sauk Prairie Health Care. Born August 15, 1945, in Carroll, Iowa, Pam was the daughter of the late Byron and Viola (Wilkens) Earhart.

After graduating in 1963 from Carroll High School, Pam trained as a licensed practical nurse and devoted her career to caring for others.

On June 19, 1965, she married Kenneth Stieren in Iowa, and together they built a life rooted in family, faith, and simple joys. Ken preceded her in death in 2005. Early on she was employed with several nursing homes, where her gentle manner and steady compassion left a lasting impression on patients and coworkers alike. After moving to Lodi, Pam was employed with Spring Window Fashions until her retirement.

Pam’s home was always warm with the smell of fresh baking and the sound of laughter. She loved reading and could often be found with a good book in hand, quietly solving sudoku puzzles, or creating crafts to brighten someone’s day. Baking for friends and family was one of her great pleasures; many will remember her thoughtful treats and the care she put into each one. Above all, Pam treasured time with her family - an afternoon visit, a holiday table full of conversation with a side of sarcasm, wit and laughter, and the small, tender moments that make life meaningful.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Laurie) Stieren and Michele Chytracek; five grandchildren, Janice (Don) Halverson, Justin (Chelsea) Stieren, Amber (Trey) Stieren, Austin (Courtney) Stieren, and Kenny Chytracek; and three great-grandchildren, Skye Stieren, Kayden Stieren, and Vinny Halverson and many of her extended family through marriage that made her feel special no matter how many miles between them. She also leaves many friends who will miss her steady presence.

In addition to her husband Ken, Pam was preceded in death by her son, Kent; her son-in-law, Greg Chytracek; and her sister and brother-in-law, Dixie and George Crouse.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at NATIVITY OF THE LORD PARISH, ST OLAF CATHOLIC CHURCH, 623 Jefferson St., De Forest, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026. Burial will follow at St. Olaf Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will also be observed at the church prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Pam’s life was one of quiet service, small celebrations, and boundless love for her family. Those who knew her will carry forward her gentle example - a reminder that kindness, care, and a homemade cookie can make the world a little brighter.

During the time the family lived in Oskaloosa Ia we lived neighbors to them. Ken and Pam were a fun couple to be with and missed them after they moved away. Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
