MADISON - Patrick Joseph Burns, age 92, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Oak Park Place. He was born on March 18, 1934, in Lancaster, Wis., the son of Bernard Burns and Eulalia (Dolan) Burns.

Patrick graduated from Highland High School in 1952.  He married Sharon Ruesch on April 30, 1966, in Medford at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Patrick worked as a Custodial Engineer for over 20 years at the McFarland School District before retiring.

Patrick enjoyed western movies and camping with the family. He had a great memory for people, places and dates. He was known for his sense of humor, dedication to the church, and commitment to supporting several charities. Patrick logged many miles on road trips visiting family, football stadiums, halls of fame, and historical landmarks.  

Patrick is survived by his children, Kristin (Troy) Schueller, Bridget Burns and Daniel Burns; and grandchildren, Garrett Schueller, Dylan Penaranda, Elissa Penaranda and Devin Burns. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Marie Burns; parents; and brother, James (Carmen) Burns.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at QUEEN OF APOSTLES PARISH, ST. DENNIS CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.
