Obituary
Lifetime Middleton Resident, Susan (Syse) Thayer passed away on July 16, 2026. Susie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ida Price; parents, Orvile (Rusty) and Hazel Syse; sister, Sonya Ivanovich; son, Richard Thayer; and niece, Theresa Zentner. Susie is survived by her son, Scott (Jill) Thayer; sister, Sally Zentner; and grandchildren, Brett, Nicholas, Brandon, Brynn, Zoe and Taylor.
Susie graduated from Middleton High School on May 24, 1962. Shortly after graduation, she began working for the Department of Transportation at the Hill Farm State Office Building. Susie was incredibly proud of the career she built there and spoke of the friendships she made, many of which lasted well beyond her retirement in 2007.
In her retirement years, Susie enjoyed crafting and spending time with her family.
A very special thank you to Bristol Hospice. Susie’s family will be eternally grateful for the loving care and comfort provided by Brittany and her team during Susie’s final months.
Susie will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison.
A private family remembrance will be held; no public services are planned.
