Obituary
COTTAGE GROVE - Beverly J. (Ketter) Roberts, age 84 passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026.
Born on July 10, 1942, in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, Beverly was the beloved daughter of Leo H. Ketter and Valeria Ketter. She lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
Beverly was the cherished wife of the late Thomas R. “Tom” Roberts. Together they built a life centered on love, family and a welcoming home. Though Tom preceded her in death, the love they shared remained a defining part of her life’s story.
Beverly most recently resided at Hattie’s Glen in Waunakee, Wis. She also made her home in Monona and Cottage Grove, Wis., where she built lasting friendships and many cherished memories.
Beverly devoted her professional life to caring for others through her work at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She began her career as a Unit Secretary, a role she held for 30 years before transitioning to Nursing Administration, where she served for an additional 15 years. After an extraordinary 46 years of dedicated service, she retired in 2011. Throughout her career, Beverly was known for her professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment to supporting both patients and her healthcare colleagues.
Beverly treasured the lifelong friendships she made throughout the years, especially those formed during her career at St. Mary’s Hospital. She looked forward to gathering with her beloved Spring Green group, whose friendship spanned more than 53 years, and she cherished the annual Christmas Cookie Exchange, a tradition that brought laughter and lasting memories for more than 40 years.
Her family affectionally referred to Beverly and her close friends Mary and Mary Jo as the “Trollops.” Their friendship was one of joy, laughter and unwavering support. Whether they were sharing a sandwich and a beer, celebrating birthdays, taking overnight excursions, going to the movies, or simply finding another reason to spend time together, their bond was a treasured part of Beverly’s life.
Beverly also enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams. She was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and faithfully followed Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball and football. She loved music, especially the Bee Gees and Kenny Chesney, and could often be found enjoying a Hallmark Christmas movie. Nothing brought her greater happiness than supporting her grandchildren. She rarely missed one of their sporting events, school plays, musicals, or Wisconsin Band concerts, taking immense pride in each of their accomplishments and creating memories they will cherish forever.
Beverly found joy in the people she loved. Her warmth, kindness, unwavering loyalty, and devotion to family and friends will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the friendships she cherished, and the family she loved so deeply.
Above all else, Beverly’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother whose love, encouragement, and steady presence were constant throughout her daughters’ lives. She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Tracey (Dan) Weaver of Cottage Grove, Wis., and Allison (Mickey) Laborde of Argyle, Wis. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Peytonn (Nate) Bergman of Madison, Wis., Wyatt Weaver (fiancée, Paige Ramos) of Oregon, Wis., and Brynn Weaver (fiancé, Nick Borden) of Oregon, Wis.
Beverly is also survived by her sisters, Janet (David) Emmer of Kronenwetter, Wis., and Natalie Mason of Henderson, Nev.; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas R. “Tom” Roberts; parents, Leo H. Ketter and Valeria Ketter; brother, Karl Ketter; father-in-law, Gordon Roberts; mother-in-law, Lillian Sather; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Martin and Carol Kelly; and brother-in-law, Randy Mason.
