Obituary
MADISON - Jarrod Thomas Beglinger, age 50, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at UW Hospital and Clinics following a sudden and catastrophic medical event.
Jarrod was born on April 3, 1976, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, to Robert and Claire (Jameson) Beglinger. He graduated as co-valedictorian from Waukesha North High School in 1994, earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1998, and later completed a master's degree in industrial design at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
On August 14, 2016, Jarrod married Hilary Hannon-McFarland in Edgerton, Wisconsin. Together they built a beautiful life and welcomed two sons, Xavier and Oslo, who were the center of Jarrod's world.
Jarrod's greatest joy was being a husband and father. He would happily set aside any project to spend time with his family, whether reading to the boys, playing games, coaching their soccer teams, taking adventures, preparing beautifully arranged breakfasts, or simply enjoying time together at home. Nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than being with Hilary, Xavier, and Oslo.
A gifted designer with a brilliant and creative mind, Jarrod approached every challenge with curiosity, ingenuity, and thoughtful craftsmanship. Throughout his career, he inspired creative solutions while working for design firms in Massachusetts, Ohio, and Wisconsin. He was also a talented furniture maker and woodworker who built beautiful pieces for his family, including a remarkable treehouse for his sons.
Jarrod was an avid road cyclist and proudly achieved his goal of riding more than 7,000 miles in a single year while commuting between his Madison home and his workplace. He also enjoyed birding, traveling, new experiences and being a connoisseur of chocolate chip cookies. Jarrod was a lifelong learner soaking up knowledge wherever he found it. He was a genuine listener who made people feel valued and took a sincere interest in their lives. His warmth, quiet generosity, infectious laugh, and enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jarrod is survived by his wife, Hilary; his sons, Xavier Hannon Beglinger-McFarland and Oslo Hannon Beglinger-McFarland; his parents, Robert and Claire (Jameson) Beglinger of Waukesha; his brother, Scott (Kristen) Beglinger, and their son, Robert, of Franklin; his father-in-law, Roger McFarland; his mother-in-law, Maureen Hannon; his brother-in-law, Sean (Holli) McFarland; and his sister-in-law, Darcy (Rick Helm) Hannon-McFarland. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Zachary Hannon-McFarland.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember Jarrod at LAKE EDGE PARK SHELTER, 511 Park Court, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026. In celebration of Jarrod's life, guests are encouraged to wear colors and, if possible, arrive by bicycle.
