When I think of Aunt Susie my mind goes straight to my childhood, summers on Arbutus Lake in Hatfield and Frueh family gatherings up on the hill. I remember Susie as the fun-loving aunt who loved camping, boating and family. She and Bob would give us kids boat rides and encourage us to learn to waterski. No matter how many times we lost our grip, tumbled into the water or swallowed half the lake, Susie would cheer us on! Those are just some of the special memories I will carry with me. I also remember how much she loved her siblings and the special bond she shared with my mom, “Ali”. Knowing that they are reunited brings a small bit a peace to a heavy day. Rest in peace Aunt Susie. I have so many heart-filled, laugh-filled memories of dear Aunt Susie. As a young girl, I looked up to the Aunt who I thought was so beautiful, fun, and talented. She could play a mean accordion and gifted me with the honor of being her flower girl at her wedding, along with cousin Butch as the ring bearer. That big happy celebration on the lawn up on the hill was one of my earliest memories. Our childhood summers on Arbutus Lake in Hatfield in the care of the Frueh family siblings and their husbands and wives were always a blast and still make me smile. What I remember most throughout the years was the bond and sharing between Susie and my mom, who she always called Ali. They talked weekly sharing family news, recipes, and a million laughs. They also shared a deep love of reading, constantly trading books back and forth. As my sister Judy said in her post, thinking of Susie and Ali reunited along with Grandpa and Grandma and all those fun loving siblings does provide comfort to a heavy heart. Rest in peace, Susie. You are so loved.

We will forever remember and hold our adopted Gramma Sue in our hearts. What a blessing that we found ourselves the beneficiaries of her love and generosity right next door. There was no limit to her ability to find joy in the simplest pleasures in life, nothing could get between her and a good bonfire! Half my yard are heirloom plants from hers. She was always so encouraging and loved the company of others. She embodied true kindness, such a gentle soul! We love you Gramma Sue. As Brother David likes to remind us, your reward is in heaven We'll see you later.
