FITCHBURG - Melissa M. Hoffman, age 60, of Fitchburg, passed away at home after a short battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. She was born on May 21, 1966, in Madison, the daughter of William George and Karen (Heidenreich) Everson.
Melissa graduated from Oregon High School in 1984 and UW-Madison in 1995. She was united in marriage to Daniel Hoffman on October 20, 1984, in Oregon, Wis.
Melissa was passionate about German culture and cherished the times she spent traveling in Germany and its neighboring countries. Melissa lived with mental health challenges since 1995. Throughout her life, she never lost her kind and compassionate spirit or her deep, unwavering love for her daughter. Melissa shared a birthday with her mom.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Daniel; daughter, Ash Hoffman (Sebastian); father, Robert Everson; sisters, Melinda "Mindy" George, Martha (Bob) Aus and Veronica (Tim) Matt; sisters-in-law, Heidi Melville, Margaret Daniels, Helene Alexander and Jean Mueller; and nieces, Hannah (Steele) Mellum and Olivia Aus. She was preceded in death by her mother, Karen Everson; father, William George; and mother-in-law, Dora Hoffman.
A celebration of life will be held at her father’s home, 5285 Lincoln Road, Oregon, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
