Obituary

Monona - Dennis H. "Denny" LaBelle, age 71, of Monona, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 18, 1954, in Madison, Wis., the son of Eugene LaBelle and Delores (Mathison) LaBelle.


Denny graduated from Monona Grove High School with the class of 1974. Prior to retirement, he worked as a station maintenance worker for the Madison Metropolitan Sewage District for 33 years. He loved Badgers sports and had season tickets for both football and hockey. He enjoyed boating and taking road trips in his red convertible, watching western TV shows with his dad, and going to Ho Chunk and Diamond Joe’s casinos. He also enjoyed going out to dinner and attending concerts, especially The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Hendrix, Tina Turner, Madonna, Cher and Elvis, as well as watching the grandkids’ sporting events and spending time with his dogs. He was very social with a great sense of humor, but was also a kind, generous person who you could always count on if you needed help.


Denny is survived by his significant other, of 33 years, Kay Mayfield; brothers, Dean (Jenny) LaBelle and Don (Tiffany) LaBelle; sister, Dawn (Andy) Marshall; step-daughters, Lori (Travis) Aldridge and Lisa (Russell) O'Keefe; step-son, Jim (Marissa) Mayfield; nine grandchildren, Trevor (Jordyn) Aldridge, Conley (Isabel) O'Keefe, Keagan (Marisol) O'Keefe, Aidan Aldridge, Harper Mayfield, Quin O'Keefe, Hewitt Mayfield, Cullen O'Keefe and Hadley Mayfield; great-grandchildren, Eliseo and Elina O'Keefe; nieces, Isabel Marshall and Abby (Edwin) LaBelle; nephew, Bryce LaBelle; along with many cousins and friends, He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Douglas (Lisa Broehm) LaBelle.


A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, with a Time of Remembrance at 2:30 p.m. Please bring stories to share! Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.


The family wishes to thank the staff of Agrace HospiceCare for all of their wonderful care given to Denny and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Denny’s memory to Monona EMS.
