Obituary

MIDDLETON / MADISON - Suzanne “Sue” Elizabeth Rogan passed away suddenly on July 6, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living in Madison, Wis. Sue was born in Fukuoka, Japan on May 7, 1951, where her parents, Colonel John and Ann Rogan, were stationed during the Korean War. She was the oldest of nine children and, as an “Army brat,” lived in multiple states and on Okinawa.

Sue graduated with a degree in Radio and TV from Indiana University and worked for several newspapers and a radio station before pursuing other career interests. These included Emergency Medical Services and State Trooper certifications, as well as a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin. Sue worked at several Madison hospitals for most of her career before retiring in 2015.  She was a staunch advocate for social justice and human rights for all people.

Sue is survived by her siblings, Jack (Judy), Kathy, Patty, Colleen (Antonio), Michael (Sue), Kevin and David; and brother-in-law, Vincent. Sue's parents and sister, Maureen, preceded her in death.

In keeping with Sue’s wishes, no services will be held. The family respectfully requests no flowers or gifts. Please direct any memorial contributions to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).

Being relatively new to the Rogan family, the most significant interaction I had with Sue Rogan was helping to move her and get settled at Brookdale Senior Living. Sue was very grateful to me and thanked me sincerely. Her sincerity touched me. Yesterday and today, Patty and I moved Sue’s possessions out of Brookdale, where numerous staff expressed their affection for Sue and remembered how she always thanked them for anything they did for her. She had a kind heart. Most of all I remember overhearing some of her calls with Patty. She readily voiced her gratitude and love for Patty who has lovingly cared for Sue when she needed it the most. It was a beautiful relationship between them. It makes me both sad and happy. Rest in peace, Sue. And thank you for letting me in.

I worked and volunteered with Sue. Always enjoyed working with her. We would run into each other every once in awhile and it seemed as time hadn’t passed. Rest Sue, you are fondly remembered.
