Obituary

Mount Horeb - Julianne Mary Vasen, age 86, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born on August 7, 1939, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Chester and Elaine (Schimelpfenig) Midthun.


Julianne is survived by her sons, Bradley S. Vasen and Blakely S. Vasen; grandson, Michael; and granddaughter, Tia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; her brother; and her husband, Stephen G. Vasen.


A funeral service will be held at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 315 E. Main St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday July 1, 2026, with Pastor Karen Hofstad presiding.  Burial will be held at Union Cemetery, Mount Horeb. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. A luncheon at the church will follow the service and burial.
