Obituary
MADISON - Daniel Mark “Danny” Corcoran passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Daniel (Dan or Danny) was born on June 5, 1962, in Madison, Wis. He attended Blessed Sacrament School and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1980. He later attended MATC and UW-Stevens Point. He had a big, open, playful heart.
As a boy, Dan possessed a childlike wonder that he never outgrew. He loved nature, spending his happiest days fishing, hunting and skiing with his brothers, cousins and friends. He had a talent for impressions, and would often mimic the iconic sportscaster, Howard Cosell, broadcasting games from his closet studio.
Dan was creative, kind, and a gifted storyteller-a man of many talents whose unique gifts touched the lives of those around him. He was a gifted photographer, especially of nature. He also photographed the many bands he followed. A lover of music, he attended hundreds of concerts in his life. He loved the mountains of Colorado, the lakes of Wisconsin, and spending time on his family farm. He passed along his love of nature to his nephews and nieces, whom he adored. Dan was an avid Packers fan, a passion he shared with his mother.
He had a house painting business for many years. He loved hunting morel mushrooms and selling them to customers throughout the nation, as well as chefs in Madison restaurants through his company Midwest Morels. He took great pride in the fact that some of Madison’s best restaurants cooked with his morels.
Dan’s family will miss him terribly. Dan is survived by his mother, Marcia Corcoran; sisters, Kathleen Corcoran, Colleen Corcoran-Davis (Keith), and Kerry Myers; and brothers, James Corcoran and Patrick Corcoran (Camilla); and beloved nieces and nephews, Patrick Corcoran, Madeleine Brolly, Charlie Corcoran, Mariah Davis, Alice Myers and Finley Myers. He was preceded in death by his father, James Corcoran; and brother-in-law, Wayne Myers.
A private service will be held for Dan on Friday, June 19, 2026. Memorials may be made in Dan’s name to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org). Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
