Obituary
MAZOMANIE - William Joseph "Bill" Pulvermacher, 69, of Mazomanie, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Raised on his family farm in Lone Rock, Wis., Bill was one of eight children whose humble upbringing instilled in him a lifelong work ethic, deep Catholic faith, and a commitment to serving others. After four years in the Navy aboard the USS Fort Fisher, he returned to Wisconsin, where he met the love of his life, Brenda Shelbrack. They married in 1984, settled in Black Earth, and together raised three daughters. Bill dedicated 33 years of service to Madison Gas and Electric (MG&E) and took great pride in his work and the friendships he built throughout his career.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend who never missed an opportunity to support his family or lend a helping hand. He loved traveling with Brenda and making memories with his family.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife, Brenda (Shelbrack); his daughters, Megan (Adam Grover), Kayla (Gregory Kamm), and Deidra (Jordan Luck); and his seven grandchildren, James, William, and Blake Grover, Jude and Nora Kamm, and Aldo and Barrett Luck. He is further remembered by his seven siblings, Mary Ann Borchert, James (Karolyn), Norbert Jr. (Angie), Thomas (Kathy), Deborah, Barbara Johnson (Kurt), and David; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts and uncles; in-laws; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Berniece Pulvermacher; his parents-in-law, Jack and Shirley Shelbrack; brother-in-law, Thomas Borchert; fellow "out-laws", John Wittenwyler and Chuck DuCharme; and many dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026. A visitation will be held at the church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Bill's legacy of faith, generosity, and service lives on in all who knew and loved him.
May God bless, Bill, and may God bless you.
