Obituary

MADISON - Capital City Distribution co-founder, musician, and film scholar John Francis Davis passed away on June 13, 2026, in Madison, Wis., after a long illness. He was watching the classic Chinatown film in the company of family when he passed. He was 82. He is survived by his sons, Cody (wife, Tracie), Dexter (wife, Caitlon) and Max.

To those who knew him best, John was so much more than a successful businessman and musician. He was a wonderful father whose love, guidance, and sense of adventure shaped the lives of his family. His infectious laugh and playful spirit could brighten any room, and some of his happiest moments were spent playing music with family and friends. He shared his love of the blues, films, and storytelling with the people he loved most, leaving them not only with cherished memories but with passions that will continue for generations. His legacy is found not only in the businesses he helped build, but in the family he loved and the countless lives he enriched.

A celebration of life will be held at later date.

So sad to see this. John ran my Blues Jam, Dudley's Bar on Park St. He brought in many well know musicians and was considered one of the Best jams in the city. My condolences to his family.
