Obituary

MONONA - William L. Lemon, age 73, of Monona, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on July 19, 1952, in Madison, the son of Eugene and Betty (Arndt) Lemon.

Bill graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1970. He dedicated 32 years of his career at IME where he worked alongside his three brothers. Even after reaching retirement age, he continued doing what he enjoyed, working in maintenance on Pirate Island. Known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a hand, Bill was always ready to help family, friends, neighbors, or anyone in need.

Bill had a big heart and got along with everyone and was a friend to many. Bill found his greatest happiness outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family land in Adams, where countless memories were made with those he loved. He loved being on the water and embraced every opportunity to boat, kayak, or ride a jet ski.

Bill will be deeply missed by his children, Kelli Elert and Peter (Katherine) Lemon; five grandchildren, Paisley Lemon, Pyper Lemon, Kolby Lemon, Shaela Elert and Hayden Elert; brothers, Mark Lemon and Tim (Jodi) Lemon; sisters, Louanne (Ron) Kelly, Kathy (Jim) Linden and Bonnie (Mike) Reigel; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene; mother, Betty; brother, Mike Lemon; and a niece, Amanda Reigel.

A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 19.

So sorry to hear this. Sadly, we haven't seen Bill in several years. Thankfully we have so many fun memories of spending time with Bill and your family at Ron and Louanne's croquet tournament on the 4th of July for many years. Lots of laughs and a few beers were always in the forecast. Sending hugs to all of you and our sincere condolences. Shannon, Dave, Derek and Dylan Horstmeyer

Bill would kayak often by my home. He would stop and chit chat about things going on or happening. He was always smiling and happy . May he rest in peace 🙏 Pamela Meicher
