Obituary
MIDDLETON - Brigitte Maria Rosemeyer, age 93, of Middleton, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. She was born on April 5, 1933, in Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, the daughter of Theogerd Meeussen and Odilia (Roettgen) Meeussen.
Brigitte was united in marriage to Dr. Otto G. Rosemeyer on December 15, 1959, in Bad Godesberg, Germany. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Wisconsin.
Brigitte dedicated herself to her family as a warm and loving homemaker. Her family was her primary focus. She took joy in nurturing those she loved. Examples include Sunday brunches after Mass, trips around the country, many long and detailed phone calls and messages informing us to dress appropriately for the current weather and what PBS musical or drama was on that we must check out. She also shared hot stock tips which usually were good ones, as investing was one of her favorite subjects.
Appreciating beauty in all its forms, Brigitte cultivated many interests. She was an avid gardener who never met a flower she didn't love, and she found nature to be a great healer, especially among pine trees on hiking and ski trails. She also had a keen eye for interior design and a lifelong appreciation for art. She shared her love of learning and culture as a docent at the Elvehjem Museum at UW and found strength and fellowship in her prayer group through St. Bernard Catholic Church.
Brigitte enjoyed gathering with friends over card games, including poker, Bunco, and bridge, and she treasured the companionship these gatherings brought. Though naturally private, she formed deep and lasting friendships with those blessed to be part of her inner circle.
From the Rheinland in Germany to Rhinelander, Wis., and later Middleton, Wis., Brigitte lived with one foot in both the Old World and New World. She saw the strengths of each place and felt connected to both. The most meaningful moments always included family or friends whether enjoying nature, sports, concerts, meals or trips. We will miss her very much.
Brigitte is survived by her daughters, Audrey (Dan) Weidman and Ingrid (Christopher) Kunze; son, Otto M. Rosemeyer; granddaughters, Claire (Luke) Hinchley, Evelyn (Aaron) Courtney and Christina Kunze; grandson, Alexander Kunze; great-granddaughter, Adeline Hinchley; and sisters, Ursula (Rainer) Braun and Anita Roland. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto; brother, Theogerd (Annemarie) Meeussen; and brother-in-law, Rudolf Roland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2015 Parmenter St., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, with Father Michael Wanta presiding.
