Obituary

LODI - Leonard M. “Clancy” Clancy, age 95, of Lodi, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026. He was born on January 24, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Leonard and Marie (Pitts) Clancy.

Leonard proudly served as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War, enlisting on his 20th birthday. Leonard worked for many years as a bricklayer in Illinois, bringing artistry and craftsmanship to his work. During these years, Clancy married Gail (Leinweber) Clancy in November of 1954. They lived (22 years) in South Holland, Ill., with their two sons until their divorce.

On May 14, 1977, he married Marjorie R. Harris, beginning a life filled with adventure, hard work, and cherished memories. Together, Clancy and Marjorie spent 23 years living in Maui, Hawaii, where they became active members of the Lahaina Yacht Club participating in numerous sport fishing tournaments. Drawn to Hawaii in search of opportunity, Clancy eventually established his own successful business, West Maui Tile.

Clancy had a deep love of fishing, boating and long walks along the beach searching for sea glass. In retirement he found joy in creating unique works from stone and glass, especially hand-crafted bird houses, a hobby, in which he took tremendous pride.

Following Marjorie’s passing, Clancy was fortunate to find companionship with Emily Kannard. Together they shared many happy moments, including visits to casinos-one of the highlights of their early dates. He treasured the time they spent together.

Leonard is survived by his brother, Dick Clancy; his companion, Emily Kannard; his sons, Leonard (Mary Fran) Clancy and Scott (Pat) Clancy; his stepchildren, Claude “Ronald” (Mary Lee) Harris, Bryan (Judy) Harris, Steve (Laura) Harris, Marjorie (Dave) Griegel, Betsy (Steve) Bowman and Bill (Mary) Harris; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; his beloved cat, Kelly Rose and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie (Harris) Clancy; his parents; and the mother of his children, Gail Leinweber.

Clancy was loved by many for the genuine man he was.
