Obituary

STOUGHTON - Gary Michael Fumuso, age 70, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, at home.  He was born on February 10, 1956, in Madison, Wis., the son of Michael Fumuso and Beverly (Bohnsack) Olson.

Gary graduated from Queen of Apostle High School in Madison, Wis., in 1974. He stayed most of his life on Madison’s East-Side. He owned and operated Ace Floor Sanding Company for over 35 years. Gary almost always had a dog companion by his side.

Gary especially enjoyed a good time. He took his son, Devon, and friends fishing in Sheboygan on Lake Michigan, bungee jumping at the Dells, dune buggying, and on a week-long vacation in Mexico.

Last year, Devon took Gary on his final adventure to Fort Atkinson, along with Judy’s family, where they all did skydiving for the first time. Gary was truly fearless and will be greatly missed by his family and the friends he chose to share his life with.

Gary is survived by his son, Devon Staley; mother, Beverly Olson; sister, Judy Fumuso; nephew, Dana Fumuso; and cousins, Kurt Stephenson, Barbara Stephenson and Carol Stephenson. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Fumuso; and sister, Dawn Marie Fumuso.

Sad to hear that Gary passed away. We were good friends in high school. We hitchhiked to Colorado when I was 17 and he was 16. I loved his blue Buick skylark. We’ve run into each other over the years and always shared many "do you remember when’s" cheers my friend, see you on the other side! Jana Bannon

Ever since I met Gary he had Rottweilers they were always well behaved but I was always a little nervous around them if Gary was not in sight then he had to put down his last beloved rot he decided it was time for a new dog and wanted a Burmese mountain dog he would come to our house so we could look for breeders on the computer we would spend hours Mike would come home and there were Gary and I dog shopping he needed a roommate and he found one down south they flew that puppy to Madison and once again a dog by his side he was a kind gentle man that will be missed Deb Shaw
