Connie Schmidt
March 04, 1941 - April 29, 2026
Obituary
OREGON - Constance Elaine Schmidt, known lovingly to family and friends as Connie, was born on March 4, 1941, in Pratt, Kan. She was the daughter of Marjorie Cline and stepdaughter to Roy Cline. She passed away at home on April 29, 2026, in Oregon, Wis., following a short battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Connie graduated from Pratt High School and attended Kansas State University for a short period of time. She then began her career at Covance Research Lab in Madison, Wis., from which she retired.
Connie met the love of her life, William “Bill” Schmidt, in Cottage Grove, Wis. They were married after a short courtship, on March 31, 1973. Bill brought three children to the marriage (Bill, Lynda and Karen) and Connie brought two (Scott and Lori), making their own special rendition of the Brady Bunch. She loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, shopping, and dining out. She had a wonderful sense of humor, even in her final days, making those around her smile and giggle in the midst of her illness. She was a strong woman of faith, sharing the word whenever she had the chance, and was quick to let others know she would be walking with Jesus very soon.
Connie will be missed at home by her husband, William “Bill” Schmidt; and beloved pet, Izzy. She is further survived by her son, Bill (Melissa) Schmidt of Cunningham, Kan.; and daughters, Lynda (Alan) Schauer of Oregon, Wis., Lori (Willie) Lighthart of Mancelona, Mich. and Karen Befort of Harper, Kan. She was welcomed into heaven by her son, Scott Moon; and grandson, Chris Moon. She was a loved grandmother and great-grandmother to a small army of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a wonderful love of animals, especially dogs, so each and every granddog held a special place in her heart.
Though she is no longer with us in body, the beauty of her life continues in the hearts of those who knew her. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration and may those who mourn her be strengthened by the hope that is found in Christ.
Following her wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate Connie’s earthly life will be held at 460 N. Main St., Oregon, Wis., from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
