May Dorothy's family treasure their memories of her spirited, strong but warm persona. I only met Dorothy briefly when I dropped Diane off in Lodi but the encounter stuck in my memory....with a smile. Few people have such a lasting impression after such a brief encounter.

To the entire Wiessner family, I am so sorry for your loss. Both of your parents were so important to mine, with countless fond memories in Country Club Hills, weekends in Wisconsin, birding and vacation trips. Our mom feels incredibly lucky to have had Dorothy as her best friend for 65+ years. Her great sense of humor and compassion helped my mom navigate the highs and lows of raising six kids, and all the way through to growing old together. One of her favorite memories was when my dad gave your mom a hard time for serving him wine in a glass he thought was a bit small. Next time they came over, Dorothy handed him wine in a small vase. They had a good laugh over that one! Though you moved away from CCHills after I finished 6th grade, your family holds a special place in my memories. My favorites were the trips to your lake house: your dad stopping to look for deer on the way up, hanging in the boathouse with Erin, Kay and Bootie, burping contests, and malted ice cream shakes before bed. Your mom was my godmother, and she could not have set a better example. I can still picture her smile and hear her laugh even now. She was an amazing lady. My heart goes out to all of you.

To the entire Wiessner crew, I was so sad to hear about the loss of your mom. She was such a wonderful lady. She was beautiful, classy, put together, and had the patience of a saint. She never once showed any irritation towards me, not even the twentieth time I’d ring the doorbell inquiring whether Kay was finished eating dinner yet. I’m sure I was a child to be endured, but she nonetheless let me treat your house like a home away from home. I still fondly remember lasagna dinners, pot pies at the cabin, and peanut butter & bacon breakfast sandwiches next to my very best friend. My childhood wouldn’t have been nearly as rich without your family across the street. Thank you all for sharing your mom with me all those years. You have my deepest condolences.
