Middleton - Karen A. Ferry (Greenwood), age 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Madison, Wis. Karen was born on March 10, 1937, in Hollandale, Wis., to Kenneth and Julia (Hand). She graduated from Edgewood High school in 1955 with her lifelong friends and went on to graduate from UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. She went to work at the UW Madison University Hospital as a "Med Tech."


Karen married James Ferry on February 8, 1964. She raised their two children, Thomas and Jennifer. Later, she worked at the Wisconsin Department of Justice Office of Consumer Protection. She had a true servant's heart and enjoyed helping other people and her beloved pets.


Karen is survived by her children, Thomas (Michelle) and Jennifer; two grandchildren, Tristan and Ryan; nieces, Kelly Stahl and Kathy Schoeder; her first cousin, Ginny Johnston; many other nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, Marcia Kirschbaum; and numerous other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Julia Greenwood; her husband, James; and her sister, Jean Greenwood.

Karen was my first cousin, and when we were both very young, we enjoyed playing together at her house in Madison. I have very fond memories of that time. Her mother was like a mother to me, my sister and brother. She was one of the kindest and loving persons I have ever known.

I just wish to convey my condolences to Karen's family, relatives, and friends. She was married to my first cousin James Ferry. From anything that I had ever heard, I am certain she was a good, kind, and decent human being.
