MIDDLETON - Patrick Owen Finnerty, age 78, of Middleton, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026. He was born on December 6, 1947, in Green Bay, the son of Owen and Leona (Finn) Finnerty.
Patrick graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1966 and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Racine. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marines from July 5, 1967, until October 21, 1970. Patrick was united in marriage to Sandra Manthey on August 31, 1973, in Sheboygan Falls, Wis. He was the co-owner of the family business, Finnerty Lincoln Mercury, and was also employed at Kayser Ford and Middleton Motors.
He served on the Middleton Police Commission for 25 years. After completion of the Middleton Police Citizen Academy in 2005, Pat served as a volunteer in police service for 16 years. He was a life member of the William Sonny Simon VFW Post 8216 in Middleton and served as its commander for four different terms. He was also a longtime volunteer at Middleton Senior Center, including the Meals on Wheels program.
Pat's family was very important to him; he was always concerned about their welfare and wellbeing and willing to help in whatever way necessary.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Sandra; sisters, Barbara (Richard) Allmann of Sturgeon Bay, Ann Cardinale (Ray Bandziulis) of Madison and Kathleen Finnerty of Sturgeon Bay; goddaughters and nieces, Elizabeth Cardinale and Nina Cardinale; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Ellinghausen of New Berlin; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Leona; parents-in-law, Lawrence and Jane Manthey; and brother-in-law, Richard Manthey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2015 Parmenter St., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery (Fond du Lac). Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday.
