Obituary

MADISON - David J. Myers, age 78, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026. He was born on January 26, 1948, in Madison, the son of Donald and Doris (Varnum) Myers.

Dave graduated from Madison West High School in 1966 and married his high school sweetheart, Lynn, on June 21, 1969. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Pharmacy in 1971.

Dave began his pharmacy career at Prescription Pharmacies of Madison before establishing Madison Pharmacy Associates in 1982. He retired in 1997. His career was dedicated to women’s health. He was well respected in the Madison community and internationally for his professionalism, knowledge, and care for others.

Dave was a fun-loving and deeply supportive husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in time spent with his family and beloved dogs. He spent many days on the golf course at Nakoma Golf Club, where he later joined the grounds keeping team. Dave appreciated life’s simple pleasures—listening to Willie Nelson and Jimmy Buffett, enjoying ice cream, taking country drives, playing cribbage, and making lasting memories on family vacations.

Dave will be remembered for his warmth, humor, generosity, and the many lives he touched through both his work and his friendships.

Dave is survived by his wife, Lynnellen; two daughters, Amanda (Garth) Nelson and Molly (M. Carey) Bernier; three grandchildren, Elle, Sophie and Nicolas; and sister, Jill (Ez) Siegler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Doris; brother, Todd Myers; and sister, Lisa Myers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Czar’s Promise (www.czarspromise.com/fundraising-for-drake/), dedicated to supporting families whose companion animals have been diagnosed with cancer.

My Papa was the most amazing papa God could have given me. He was a blessing and I'll never forget him and how caring he always was. I miss him with my whole heart. I will always treasure our up and down rides and I'll think of him every time I chew my gum. I love you grandpa.

Dave and I were lifelong friends, growing up four addresses apart on North Owen. The memories from those years and later, through the inevitable divergence of our lifepaths, glow warmly and forever. 'Til we meet again, rest easy my friend. Rich Hofland

Dave and I grew up in the same neighborhood, played little league baseball together and both worked at the Prescription Pharmacy in high school. I just found out about Dave’s passing yesterday, July 16th, while visiting a fellow high school classmate. My most sincere thoughts and comfort go out to Lynn and family. - Jim Wilson
