Obituary
STOUGHTON - Deloris Johnston, age 77, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Agrace HospiceCare, after a brief illness. She was born on November 26, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of Hubert and Rosa Lee (Taylor) Whitfield.
Deloris attended Lake Worth High School and went on to dedicate more than 30 years of service as an administrative assistant with the Texas Department of Public Safety before retiring. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures-working in her yard, reading, and watching Christian television. Deloris also cherished time spent helping her close neighbor on their farm, a place where she formed many meaningful memories. In 2024, she moved to Wisconsin to be closer to her sister and extended family. Above all, Deloris will be remembered as a kind and caring person whose presence was a true blessing to all who knew her.
Deloris is survived by her sister, Glenda Ackerman; nephews, Eric (Kristin) Taplick, Jeff (Janice) Taplick and Brad Taplick; niece, Heather (Joel Vaughn) Taplick; and many great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa Lee and Hubert; and her brothers-in-law, Bill Taplick and Frank Ackerman.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, with Pastor Jason Miller presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
