MARSHALL - Beverly Ann Schwartz, age 77, of Marshall, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at her home in Marshall, Wis. She was born on February 20, 1949, in Boscobel, Wis., the daughter of Floyd and Betty (Thompson) Dowling.


Beverly graduated from Boscobel High School in 1967. She dedicated many years to the U.S. Postal Service, where she served in a variety of roles throughout her career before retiring in 2010.


Beverly found joy in the comforts of home, while also treasuring the memories she created on her road trips with her grandchildren and close friends. She traveled yearly to Florida with her dear friend, Bonnie, which began in 1998. She enjoyed rock and roll music, especially “The King," Elvis Presley, among other artists.    


She loved her family deeply and was especially proud of her grandchildren. In their early years, she helped care for them-watching them, assisting with homework, driving them to activities and attending dance recitals. In recent years, they returned the favor by taking Grandma Bev on their own adventures, whether it was a quick trip to Woodman’s or a visit to a friend’s gathering. It was their special time with Grandma Bev.


Beverly is survived by her sons, James (Jessica) Schwartz and Thomas "Tom" Schwartz; grandchildren, Daniel, Steven, Jacob "Leo”, Hannah and Alyssa; great-granddaughter, Aurbee; brother, Dave (Barb); and sister-in-law, Nancy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Betty Dowling; and brothers, Bob and Kenny.


A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, with Pastor Todd McVey presiding. A luncheon will follow the service at BLACK BEAR INN, 320 W Cottage Grove Road, Cottage Grove, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

I will never forget the time she bought a 1987 Chrysler LeBaron. That night at work, someone asked what kind of car she had decided to get. She looked up into the air, trying to remember, and then excitedly said, "An '87 Lebanon!" We all had a good laugh!

So many memories of fun times at the Dowling farm with Bev and her brothers. Bev always talked me, the city slicker, into collecting the eggs from those pecky hens. We could usually talk Dave into driving us to Boscobel to the Blaine theater or the bowling alley. Donna W

I grew up with Bev around. She taught me to read and even at times to cook. She spent so much time with my grandmother and they traveled all over together.. they shared so many beautiful memories. The bond of friendship they shared between them goes beyond words and life itself. The love and care and always lifting each other up ultimately was one of the most beat and beautiful friendships I've ever seen in my entire life. Bevs boisterous laughter and enjoyment of football with my grandfather also seemed as meaningful and memorable as growing up with her as my "Aunt" even though not related by blood she truly became a part of our family too. And in the midst of all this sorrow and pain of loss. I know deep in my heart she would indeed want her life celebrated remembered and she would want us all to live in her stead where she cannot anymore. - Memoria Rayneshades
