Obituary

OREGON - Marge Serna, age 69, of Oregon, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Agrace Hospice Care. She was born on November 26, 1956, in Madison, the daughter of Alvin and Claire (Lasher) Joyner.

Marge graduated from Oregon High School in 1975. She remained good friends with many of her classmates and enjoyed planning and attending their reunions. Marge enjoyed spending time on the beaches of Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, making cards and jewelry, and shopping at Peaceful Heart.

Marge touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selflessness, generosity, and kindness will be remembered forever. Marge loved to talk, to listen, and to share stories, conversations with her were something people cherished.

She helped introduce soccer to the Oregon community alongside her former husband, quickly becoming known as the “original soccer mom” for her hands-on dedication. Marge worked as a property manager for The Gallina Companies, a role that meant a great deal to her. She cared deeply for her co-workers and tenants, and because she lived where she worked, she formed close, meaningful connections with the people around her.

Marge is survived by her son, Phillip Serna; daughter, Andrea Serna (Markus Cobbs); mother, Claire Joyner; brothers, Lee (Diane) Joyner and Brian (Dale) Joyner; sisters, Marlene (Jim) Olson and Marcia Richgels. She was preceded in death by her father, Al. Marge is remembered by many extended family members, friends, and classmates who will deeply miss her. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Agrace’s IPU and Meriter Hospital (11th floor).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Marge’s memory to Gilda’s Club Wisconsin, Agrace, or Oregon Area Food Pantry.

A celebration of life to be planned at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

My deepest sympathies to the Family of Marge Serna. She was a wonderful person and friend. Our families lived directly across from each other on Main St, when we were growing up and in school. She always had that great smile and something good or funny to say. She must have walked hundreds of miles around the Village. She always took time to stop and catch up on all the Village gossip , Village happenings and to tell me about her Family. I hadn’t seen her in a while but will always remember the kind person she was. You are missed Marge. May it be of some comfort to her family knowing she was liked and respected by so many. Sincerely. Marge was a great friend. We became friends in fifth grade. I asked if I could eat lunch with her and her friends. That group of friends influenced my life for good all through high school and beyond. Marge was such a generous and loving friend. When I had an undiagnosed case with my gallbladder and she found out how sick I was three years ago she called me weekly and sent me gifts. She will be missed. Truly a woman with a heart of gold.

Marge was always incredible person to be around. A warning to those who tried to BS her, she had a tongue as sharp as a Wilkinson blade. Furthermore, she used it consistently with well planned and noted sarcasm. The entire Joyner clan made Bob Ross, Bud Rogers, and myself feel like it was our home too when we “slept over”. The factual logic was, Lee had given us something weird to our beverages. The beverages Lee slipped us. Certainly, made us tired, wobbly, and “slightly sick”. How could we possibly know that we should not trust Lee? So, Marge bless your large caring heart, and sharp wit. You made sure the “Joyner Monster Cats (small to large Lynx’s) marked their specific territories out, of course as we slept. Those Massive Joyner Cat territories, often included our nightly sleeping spots. Marge involved additional Marking instructions from all the Joyner ladies, bless your hearts. Simply put, The MONSTER JOYNER CATS RULE and the Boys Drool! God Bless you Marge and the Joyner ladies, for giving me a small place in a wonderful second family. This despite the medical fact that I am 100% allergic to Cats! My myopic memory, Marge strongly stated based on the recent medical research and her absolute and unwavering certainty, “It Is All In My Head”! My weak retort was “No Shiz, Dr. Watson!” RIP Sweet Marge!
