STOUGHTON / MERRILL - Frederick “Fred” Joseph Waldburger, age 75, formerly of Merrill, currently of Stoughton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 3, 2026. He was born on August 17, 1950, in Merrill, the son of Fred and Pearl (Wyland) Waldburger.


Fred graduated from Merrill High School in 1969. He married his first wife and the mother of his three daughters, Linda Craig, on July 31, 1971. After her passing, he was blessed to find love a second time and married Janet Underwood on September 8, 1996, in Madison. He was a man of the soil and took great pride in his work as owner and operator of Wal-Lyn Farms, in Gleason, Wis. Later on, he owned and operated a greenhouse garden center, and flower shop.


Fred served as president of the Jaycees and was a former member of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. He had a range of interests which included gardening, fishing, kayaking, antiquing, ballroom dancing, a good flea market, traveling and researching his Swiss heritage.


Fred is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters, Kathryn (Scott) Braaten, Sarah (Luis) Rodriguez and Rebecca (Paul) Hans; step-son, Martin (Tina) Berg; grandchildren, Sonora, Jordan, Lydia, Levi, Lukas and Luis Jr.; and brothers, Michael Waldburger, Jimmy (Cindy) Waldburger, Richard (Susie) Waldburger, Ronald (Christine) Waldburger, Larry (Vickie) Waldburger and Kirby "Tim" Waldburger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pearl; brother, Bruce "Bud" (Vanessa) Waldburger; and former wife, Linda Waldburger.


A funeral service will be held at MADISON EAST SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, 910 Femrite Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Sunday.

I remember when Fred and Janet used to sing on the Praise Team at church. Fred always put his whole heart into it. He was a kind man. Janet, I am so sorry. You too were perfect together. I pray it will bring you comfort to know you will be together again someday. I am praying for you.

I graduated with Fred in 1969. Fred always had a vivid imagination and had many discussions about his ideas. He once came up with a plan to take over the Gleason area from the authorities LOL. I have good memories of a kind and thoughtful person. Jim Lindstrom
