Obituary

MADISON - Hildegard Hof, age 93, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, in Madison, Wisconsin. She was born on December 6,1932 in Minot, North Dakota, to the late Carl and Martha Hof. She graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota. She earned her Ph.D. degree from University of Minnesota.


Hildegard dedicated her career to teaching at medical schools in Chicago and Pennsylvania. She relocated to Madison, Wisconsin to enjoy life after retirement.


Hildegard was a kind and thoughtful lady with a good sense of humor. She enjoyed reading and traveling. She will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.


Before Hildegard’s passing, she expressed sincere thanks to the staff at the Attic Angel for their care and compassion. She was grateful and thankful for So Chiang’s friendship and support in her final years. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I was privileged to know Hildie for a short time. Within that time we shared stories about growing up, her life on the farm, her teaching chemistry. She was a dear sweet lady. I enjoyed our time together and her two care takers, Sue and So, who took very good care of her. Rest in peace dear Hildie and looking forward to when we will meet again.
