I knew Ed while we were both at UW- Madison School of Music. I was the Trombone teacher from 1975 to May 0f 2003. I liked Ed from the first time i met him. We had hundreds of short talks and jokes for each other. We always met with a smile and left still laughing. His goodness and helpful friendly demeanor was obvious to anyone who got to know him. A Good Solid man. I know he made things on earth better and am confident the Good Lord will welcome him.R I P, Mr. Ripp Bill Richardson
