MCFARLAND - Susan J. Fischer, 73, of McFarland, Wis., passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Susan was born on May 20, 1952, in Appleton, Wis., to Ellen and Dick Adams. She graduated from Appleton East High School, attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and graduated from McConnell Airline School in Minneapolis.
On August 4, 1973, she married the love of her life, Tom Fischer, and together they enjoyed traveling, golfing and spending time with friends. Susan worked as a travel agent for Meyer Larson Travel and Monona Travel for more than 10 years. She later drove for Nelson's Bus Service, where her dedication and leadership led to her role as terminal manager. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and proudly cheered on the Wisconsin Badgers. Susan had a special gift for arts and crafts and found joy in gardening, reading, and baking for those she loved. She took great pride in maintaining a warm, welcoming, and beautifully kept home. Above all, Susan treasured her family. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome.
Susan is survived by her husband of 53 years, Tom; her children, Devin (Keri) of Georgia and Matt (Jess) of Stoughton; and her two beloved grandchildren, Cain and Sydney. She is further survived by her stepmother, Kay Adams; her brother, Steve Adams (Diane); as well as several nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen Adams; and her father, Richard Adams.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the physicians and nursing staff of the ICU at St. Mary's Hospital for their exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism.
