Nicholas R. Endres

August 28, 1978 - February 28, 2026

Obituary

ARLINGTON - Nicholas Richard Endres, age 47, of Arlington, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from colon cancer. He was born on August 28, 1978, in Madison, Wis., the son of Steven and Faye (Ballweg) Endres.

Nick graduated from Waunakee High School in 1997. On March 1, 2003, he married Brenda (Reible) Endres at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Waunakee. For work, Nick drove dump truck and worked for Arlington Hardware. Most recently he worked for Dane County Highway Department plowing snow and was a part of the paint crew which he took great pride in.

While he was growing up, Nick’s family had a two-wheel drive pulling truck. They loved spending time together at truck pulls. He also enjoyed archery and trap shooting, which were a big part of his life. Family trips ATVing with his girls and taking trips to Dollywood brought him great joy. He loved snowmobiling and was just starting to get into 22 long range shooting. Nick taught himself how to set up and maintain his own archery equipment, and mentored others who wanted to learn those skills. He also planned “archery date nights” with Brenda so they could enjoy his hobby together. Nick was a member of and youth instructor for the Poynette Bowhunters, as well as a former board member of the Rio Conservation Club, and a coach for their trap team.

Nick was very soft-spoken but had a very big heart. He worked hard to make sure both of his girls were independent and were given the knowledge and skills they needed to become confident young women. He was a reserved man, very kind and generous, and always there to help out when needed. He loved helping his father-in-law, Roger, on the farm. Roger even let him drive the combine!

Nick is survived by wife Brenda; daughters, Elizabeth and Erika; parents, Steven and Faye (Ballweg) Endres; sister, Linda (Roy) Hacker; brother, Steven (Andrea) Endres; brother-in-law, Nick (Wendy Kendall) Reible; father and mother-in-law, Roger (Betty) Reible; nieces, Kelsey Hacker, Megan Hacker, Bailey Endres and Samantha Reible; and nephews, Brent Endres and Tyler Reible.

You lived quietly and you passed quietly. You would not want people to remember you because of cancer. You would want people to remember you as a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, fellow archer, and friend. You will be missed.

You may be gone from our sight, but you are never gone from our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held at CLUB 60, W2164 Wisconsin Highway 60, Columbus, at 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday March 28, 2026. A private burial will be held.

I was a coworker of Nick’s many years ago at Cub Foods when we were both teenagers. We cleaned many messes together, pushed carts in terrible weather and shared a lot of laughs at work (when we should have been working). I really enjoyed working with him and was saddened to see he passed. My condolences to his entire family. RIP Nick. 🕊️
