Judy lived in Chadbourne Hall when attending the UW Madison. She quickly became friends with a group to be known as the Chadbourne Cuties. I, Nancy Frank Walker was included in this gang.
In those days the girl's dorms had tight controls to keep the horny boys away. They had to be back in the dorm before 10:00 PM during the week and 12:00 on the weekends. A crowd of couples sharing steamy good-buys usually collected outside the dorm doors most nights.
Judy and her gang took the opportunity of date a few good looking prospects. One of the gang, Karen, hooked up with an AGR Frat. member. Hence, a connection for dating was formed. Details will remain closed.
I hooked up with an engineering student, Don. This widened the dating and party scene beyond those AGR types. The Hasty Tasty beer bar, being close to both the Engineering campus and Chadbourne became part of our after study routine. On special occasions, late night drives to Oshkosh for an additional night cap seemed like a good idea.
All this talk of beer and boys was not the whole story. The gang of of Cuties turned out to be very good students. All would agree that Judy was the smartest of the gang. However, being "book smart" provided a few good stories. It turned out she was not able to figure out how to make coffee along with other household chores. They played some tricks on poor Judy, including mixing up all her many pairs of shoes into a pile that took a week to sort out.
Following graduation, the gang made a point of staying in touch. Judy and Jack became close friends with the other gang couples as most remained living near Madison. They shared special event trips on their 40 th birthdays and many other occasions.
Judy will be missed by the gang of cuties and other friends and family.
