Obituary

Baraboo/Lodi - Mary Katherine Clemens-Hanko, age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital, following several months of health challenges.

She was born on May 23,1952, in Reedsburg, the daughter of William and Catherine (Laubmeier) Popp. Mary was raised in Plain and graduated from River Valley High School in 1970.

Mary’s love language was cooking for family and friends while laughing over a good meal. She spent her career serving people: from being a CNA to working in retail, to various positions in the hospitality industry. She especially enjoyed her time volunteering at Reach Out Lodi and giving back to her community. Her true passion throughout the years was finding unique antiques and sharing them in her antique booths.

She is survived by her children: Cory (Kori) Clemens, Debbie (Brian) Dolphin, Cathy Clemens and Connie (Chris) Statz. Her grandchildren include Paige Vander Werff, Everett Clemens, Cyrus Clemens, Waylon Clemens and Anna Statz. Mary is survived by her sisters Della (Robert) Eberle, Elizabeth (Greg) Graf and Barbara (Kevin) Taylor. She is also survived by her companion Jim Rice, who shared in her love of antiquing and adventures in life. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Joe Ann (Jerome) Meurer.

She will be missed by family and many friends who will remember her warmth and kindness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the WADDLE INN, N1430 Hwy 113, Lodi, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering a woman who cherished family, good food and the simple pleasures of life.

I was blessed to have met Mary and enjoy conversations with her about her flea market finds and her life adventures. She was always good to call and check on my family and to stop and visit when traveling through Tennessee. She will be sadly missed. Rest In Heaven Sweet Mary.

I met Mary at the Adams flea market and instantly liked her. She was easy to talk to and her zest for life was apparent. Living in the same town of Baraboo, I had the opportunity to see her and Jim at the store and ran in to them while out and about in town. I really enjoyed talking with her and Jim when the occasion arose. She displayed wisdom in her quirky way. I loved that about her. Recently, my husband and I got to visit with her and Jim and I treasure that moment. I will miss her along with all of you. Sincerely, Diane Brey Jarchow.
