Alyson Marie White

November 27, 1982 - December 07, 2025

Obituary

MADISON - Alyson Marie White, age 43, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025. She was born on November 27, 1982, two days after thanksgiving, the daughter of Eddie White and Julia Thorstad-White. From the very beginning, Alyson was someone to be thankful for, and she will forever remain a blessing in the lives of all who knew her.

Alyson was an adventurous spirit-an avid camper, a devoted train traveler, and a lifelong lover of books. She found joy in live music, attending countless concerts with her daughter, Ava, or alongside friends. Her commitment to community ran deep, whether she was serving food to the public or showing up for local events and festivities.

She was a caring mother not only to her own child but to her friends, coworkers, strangers, and every animal that crossed her path. Alyson had a gift for being present-steadfast, supportive, and dependable through both the brightest moments and the hardest ones. She was the kind of companion who made life feel a little lighter simply by being there.

For ten years, she bravely battled Myasthenia Gravis (MG), facing monthly infusions and daily challenges with remarkable strength. Despite it all, she continued to live fully, embracing the world with resilience, humor, and heart.

Alyson is survived by her daughter, Ava Anderson; father, Eddie (Diana) White; mother, Julia (Cindy Ulsrud) Thorstad-White; former Spouse, Brandon Anderson; grandfather, Jim Gaberell (husband of the late Carol Gehrke-Thorstad-Gaberell); and many siblings, step-siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by and reunited in Heaven with her life partner, Amanda Dushack; sister-in-law, Jessica Werner; and many friends and family members.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, with Dave McDonald presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

I have so many I don’t even know where to begin. Alyson was so creative and full of life. She’s the coolest person I know. She was an amazing baker. I remember in 2011 our moms went to the Super Bowl, which happened to be on my birthday that year. Alyson came over and baked me the biggest chocolate cupcakes I’d ever seen, making my birthday feel a little more special. I remember going to the 1989 Tour with her. She made these awesome light up shirts for us to wear to the concert. I remember riding with her to and from our uncle Scott’s funeral in Arkansas. We listened to music and talked about anything and everything. I remember playing Wide Open Spaces by the Dixie Chicks and Alyson telling stories of how she and her friends would listen to that song driving around town in her youth. I wish I had much more concrete memories to share. But most of my memories of Alyson are simply sharing space with her.

Where do I begin…so many memories and things she did . She was a great mom to Ava, friend to many and awesome sister to Bryce. I remember her phone call to me telling me she was pregnant and wanting me to tell her mom.🤣🤣 who at the time, was sitting next to me in the car when we were headed to her grandmas house🤣. I remember her calling me the last day of high school to tell me she got in a fight, didn’t throw the 1st punch but officer Benusa wanted to talk to me. Anytime she got in trouble seemed like she called me her step mom to soften the blow to her mom 🤣🤣 . A challenge at times like most kids and young adults to keep us on our toes, but She was a great mom to Ava raising her to be strong and independent. Fabulous baker always making things for parties at the house and others and always willing to pitch in and help with family things. We had some fun trips to Disney and Washington State and it was fun to surprise her with concert tix of Tori Amos and others. She loved her music and festivals that she shared with Ava and Bryce. Toss a few parties upstairs girl, play some music, do some baking and kick butt when needed. We all will miss you! 💗 My fav pic of you…with your sister….Washington State

We met Alyson when she and Brandon were neighbors living in the old military houses at McGoverns! She and Brandon gave us our first grandchild and a bond was born! We will be forever thankful for being allowed to share in Ava's birth. Alyson had a sweet soul and was a great mom to Ava D. She, Cindy and Julia were always so generous to share Ava on their weekends whenever we asked. Alyson was also aways available to talk whenever I called. I talked to her the week that she passed away. I knew she wasn't feeling well but she still said she wanted to talk. MG is a horrible disease and she really struggled. I think we all learned from her strength and love! We will always love you Alyson! Go rest high on that mountain! We will miss you! Mom Lynn!
