Jane M Ruehlow

MADISON - Jane Marie Ruehlow, age 75, of Madison, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Waunakee Manor, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Jane was born on December 14, 1950, in Mauston, WI, the daughter of Stephen and Ione (Robinson) Schwedrsky. She graduated from Elroy High School in 1969 and went on to earn her Associate’s Degree from Madison Business College. On October 17, 1970, she married the love of her life, Terry Ruehlow. Together they built a beautiful life and shared 55 wonderful years of marriage, raising two children and creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.

Jane dedicated 36 years of service to the State of Wisconsin, working as a computer analyst until her retirement in December of 2008. She was respected for her diligence, intelligence, and steady presence. After retiring, she enjoyed working at Walmart, where she formed many cherished friendships and continued to brighten the lives of those around her.

Jane will be remembered by family and friends as an eternal optimist whose warmth and generosity touched everyone she met. She had a remarkable gift for seeing the good in every situation and every person, and she consistently placed the needs of others before her own. Her kindness was expressed in quiet acts of service, encouraging words, and the genuine interest she took in the lives of others.

She was an avid reader who also enjoyed baking, her lunch dates with friends and Grandmas Day Out. Jane’s greatest joy was her family. She delighted in every opportunity to spend time together, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who loved her most. Her grandchildren held a particularly special place in her heart. The role Jane played in the lives of her grandchildren will be carried on by them for a lifetime.

Jane is survived by her devoted husband, Terry; her son, Brent (Amy) Ruehlow; and her beloved grandchildren, Stephen, Alyssa (Grant), Avery, Braylon, and Brantley. She is further survived by extended family members and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kara; and her brother, Richard Schwedrsky.

A funeral service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5202 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison, WI, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, immediately following the service with a luncheon back at Messiah - all are welcome.
