Obituary
OREGON - Ardith "Artie" Xander, age 85, of Oregon, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at BeeHive Homes in Oregon, surrounded by loved ones.
Artie was born on June 28, 1940, in Stoughton, WI, to Burr and Gladys Bryant. She grew up on the family farm, having two older brothers, LaVern and Duane, until graduating from Oregon High School in 1958. After graduation, she married David "Butch" Xander in May of 1959.
Ardith was first and always a mom. She and Butch welcomed two sons, Chad and Cory. She supported her boys in everything they did, whether that meant cheering them on at their sporting events, watching skateboard tricks, racing cars, or going out to the barn to ride horses. Even better, she loved to do it all right alongside them-like riding 4-wheelers with them at the age of 81.
Along with raising her boys, Artie enjoyed a remarkable 45+ year career with American Family Insurance, where she took great pride in her work and made lasting relationships along the way. She retired from AmFam in June of 2005.
Artie enjoyed the simple things that made life sweet: she loved desserts, puzzles, and a good card game. She held a deep love for horses, finding immense joy in riding and caring for them over the years. She also held a soft spot for all animals, especially her dogs. There was always country music playing somewhere close by, and her gardens were a source of pride and beauty. She also embraced the thrill of classic cars-especially her Corvette-and the open-road freedom of her Harley-Davidson motorcycle, along with all the trips she took and time spent with Richard Martinson. Later in life, she became an even prouder grandma and great-grandma.
Ardith is survived by her sons, Chad and Cory; her grandkids, Emma (Zach) Weyenberg, Cole (Caitlin) Xander and Jett Xander; and her three great-grandkids, Jensyn, Everleigh and Brooks. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her two brothers
A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
